Wales Six Nations squad: Francis returns, Hamer-Webb called up

Wales head coach Steve Tandy has recalled prop Tomas Francis for the Six Nations, ending a two-year international absence since the 2023 World Cup. He also handed a first call-up to uncapped Leicester wing Gabriel Hamer-Webb, who qualifies for Wales through his mother. The 38-man squad features 13 players from English and French clubs.

Francis, a veteran of 77 caps and three World Cups, struggled to fill the tight-head prop void during his absence. His return adds vital experience to a pack missing injured flanker Jac Morgan and number eight Taulupe Faletau. Hooker Dewi Lake retains the captaincy, a role he filled admirably last autumn.

Notable absentees include wings Rio Dyer and Tommy Reffell, plus centres Nick Tompkins and Callum Sheedy. The squad blends established names with new talent, reflecting the competition Tandy praised. Wales face a daunting task to end an 11-match losing streak, starting with England on February 7th.
