Wales Rugby Attendance Crisis Deepens After Record Low

Wales recorded their lowest Six Nations crowd in Cardiff history as just 57,744 fans watched the 54-12 defeat to France at the Principality Stadium. More than 15,000 empty seats highlighted the growing disconnect between the national team and supporters amid ongoing turmoil in Welsh rugby.

The previous record low attendance of 58,349 came against Italy in 2002 during another losing streak. However, the current crisis runs deeper than on-field performance. The Welsh Rugby Union faces potential vote of no confidence from member clubs while considering cutting one regional team, creating political instability that has turned off fans.

Fans described the situation as "heartbreaking, sad and depressing" with many refusing to buy tickets. Swansea council leader Rob Stewart said supporters are "voting with their feet" against WRU leadership. Head coach Steve Tandy acknowledged the need for patience and unity, but admitted the team's 23 losses in 25 Test matches has left fans without hope of victory.
