The post drew heavy criticism from several American sports analysts, including former NFL star Emmanuel Acho. On the Speakeasy – Podcast, Acho said the call was not race‑based and that labeling it a white‑privilege‑foul undermined the term and ignored basketball rules. He described the contact as "ignorant and, to some degree, asinine" by Carrington.
