Markéta Vondroušová, the 26‑year‑old Czech who stunned Wimbledon in 2023, faces a four‑year ban after refusing a doping test in December 2025. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) charged her when a testing officer entered her home at night without proper identification, claiming the player feared for her safety and the ITIA said the incident violated anti‑doping protocols strictly today.

The tribunal found Vondroušová gave no compelling justification for the refusal, equating the act with a positive test under anti‑doping rules. Her suspension runs until 21 June 2030, but she can appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The decision underscores the agency’s stance that player safety and fair play must coexist for both athletes and the sport community globally today.

Vondroušová, ranked 122th worldwide, said the overnight visit violated protocol and left her feeling unsafe. ITIA chief Karen Moorhouse highlighted that testers are trained, carry ID, and match the player’s gender to protect welfare. The ban will reshape the Czech’s schedule and signal to the tour that protocol breaches carry heavy penalties for players and officials through the season today.
