Markéta Vondroušová has been charged by the International Testing Agency with refusing a doping test after a visit by a drug tester. The allegation follows her 46th‑place ranking and a from the Adelaide International shoulder pain.

ITIA regulations state that refusing or failing to submit a sample without compelling justification constitutes an anti‑doping violation. The charge does not trigger an immediate ban, and Vondroušová has opted out of a provisional suspension, allowing her to remain eligible for upcoming tournaments.

She has not competed since pulling out of the Adelaide event in January with a shoulder injury and subsequently missing the Australian Open because of the same ailment. The downtime has left her ranked 46th, a drop from her peak after a Wimbledon title last year.

Vondroušová explained that ongoing injury, relentless pressure, and sleep issues left her exhausted, while hateful messages and threats compounded her anxiety. She thanked family, boyfriend, and supporters, declaring a focus on healing both on and off the court as she works to clear her name.
