Craig Tiley has been appointed as the new chief executive of the United States Tennis Association, ending a 13-year tenure at Tennis Australia. The 64-year-old South African will replace Lew Sherr, who departed to join Major League Baseball's New York Mets. Tiley will formally assume his responsibilities later this year after ensuring a smooth leadership transition in Australia.

Tiley's appointment comes as the USTA seeks to accelerate participation growth, targeting 35 million players by 2035. During his Australian Open tenure, he oversaw the tournament's expansion to a 15-day event and introduced the inaugural Million Dollar One Point Slam. The tournament consistently broke attendance and revenue records, welcoming over 1.3 million fans during this year's event.

Before his executive roles, Tiley served as head coach of the University of Illinois men's tennis team from 1994 to 2005, winning the NCAA Division I National Championship in 2003 with a perfect 32–0 record. USTA chair Brian Vahaly praised Tiley's "rare combination of global credibility and proven commitment to growing the game at the grassroots," calling him the ideal leader for American tennis's next chapter.
