British doubles champion Henry Patten and his partner Harri Heliovaara found themselves trapped in Dubai during a missile attack by Iran on the United Arab Emirates. The ATP players, officials, and media members were unable to leave immediately after the conflict erupted, forcing them to shelter in their hotel while explosions rocked nearby areas.

Patten described hearing explosions from his hotel room and witnessing a drone strike the US consulate building just five minutes away. After 14 hours attempting to cross into Oman failed, he finally secured a flight home via Cairo and Rome. The journey was particularly traumatic for Patten, who admitted he's an anxious flyer at the best of times.

The ATP Tour extended hotel stays and covered meal expenses for the affected players. While some criticized the tour for not immediately canceling upcoming events, Patten defended their response, praising ATP representatives on the ground for their efforts managing 44 people in an active warzone.
