Lankshear has scored in all but one of his appearances for Middlesbrough, finding the net twice in four different matches. Since the September international break ended, he has been on fire, scoring seven times in five matches, including four in his last two victories over Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic. His goal tally surpasses even England captain Harry Kane, who has netted 12 in 14 games, and the Premier League leading scorer Morgan Rogers with five.
The Boro forward was part of the England Under-21 side last month. Head coach Kim Hellberg hails Lankshear a "brilliant lad" and believes he is already a better player than when he arrived in the summer. Hellberg highlighted Lankshear's development in the 18-yard box and his improved defensive game through pressing high. "He does everything every day.
You can see the improvements through the season," the Swede told BBC Radio Tees. Despite his form, questions remain over a possible senior England call-up.
