The loudest cheer came when 23‑year‑old Angharad Evans stormed to victory in the second semi‑final of the women’s 100 m breaststroke, carving the fastest time to book her place in Sunday’s final at 19:20 BST.

Katie Shanahan looked for a second medal after Friday’s silver in the 200 m backstroke, but missed a chance in the 100 m backstroke final. She also ran in the 4×100 m mixed relay that finished fifth yet set a Scottish record, with Duncan Scott as poster boy racing second in the field.

Earlier, Sean McCann finished eighth in the men’s 400 m freestyle, Lucy Grieve was seventh in the women’s 50 m butterfly, and Matthew Ward broke the men’s 50 m backstroke Scottish record on his way to seventh.
