Six-time major winner Iga Swiatek has parted ways with coach Wim Fissette following her early exit from the Miami Open. The world number three was stunned in the second round by Polish compatriot Magda Linette, marking her first opening-match loss in 74 WTA Tour tournaments. Fissette joined Swiatek's team in October 2023 and helped her claim her first Wimbledon title last July.

The 24-year-old added Seoul and Cincinnati titles during their partnership, but has struggled immensely this season, failing to advance past quarter-finals in her first four tournaments of 2024. Swiatek expressed "disappointment, bitterness and responsibility" for her performance, noting she had become "confused" on court and found the game "complicated" in her head.

The rest of Swiatek's team, including psychologist Daria Abramowicz who has been with her during all Grand Slam victories, remains intact. Fissette, who previously coached Kim Clijsters, Angelique Kerber, and Naomi Osaka to major titles, wished Swiatek the best while noting both had "wanted and worked for more success" during their time together. Swiatek now looks to regain her 'Queen of Clay' crown at Roland Garros next month.
