Stuart Hogg Arrested Again: Ex-Scotland Captain Faces New Charges

Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has been re-arrested after allegedly breaching a non-harassment order involving his ex-wife. The 33-year-old was detained on February 12 in Hawick, Scottish Borders, following a complaint that he violated court-ordered restrictions. Police Scotland confirmed the arrest but stated he was released without charge pending further investigation.

Hogg previously received a community payback order in 2024 after pleading guilty to domestic abuse charges. The court heard he had subjected his wife Gillian to years of harassment, including tracking her movements and sending distressing messages. A five-year non-harassment order was imposed, along with a £600 fine for breaching bail conditions by contacting her.

The latest arrest reportedly stems from allegations that Hogg discussed personal matters on a co-parenting app, violating the order that limits contact to child-related issues only. According to reports, he was stopped at Manchester Airport last month while returning from France, where he now plays for Montpellier. Hogg, capped 100 times for Scotland and once awarded an MBE, remains one of the nation's all-time leading try scorers.
