Neil Simpson and guide Rob Poth secured Great Britain's first medal at the Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics, claiming silver in the men's visually impaired alpine combined. The 23-year-old skier, who had finished fourth in both the downhill and super G earlier in these Games, delivered a remarkable comeback after sitting fourth following the morning super G run.

The duo recorded the fastest slalom time of the day, crossing the line in 42.52 seconds to move up two places. Italy's Giacomo Bertagnolli and Andrea Ravelli took gold, finishing 0.65 seconds ahead, while Austria's Johannes Aigner and Nico Haberl won bronze. Simpson's medal marks his third Paralympic podium finish, adding to his super G gold from Beijing 2022 and bronze in the combined from the last Games.

For 28-year-old Poth, this represents his first Paralympic medal at his maiden Games. The British pair have two more medal opportunities in Friday's giant slalom and Sunday's slalom, where their strong slalom performance in the combined suggests they could challenge for more podium finishes.
