Four sets of brothers will face each other for opposite nations at the 2026 World Cup in North America. The most talked‑about pair are PSG striker Desire Doue for France and his older brother Guela, an overlapping full‑back for Ivory Coast. Both were born in Angers to a French mother and Ivorian father, and their clubs sit on opposite sides of the French league.

If France finish second in Group I and Ivory Coast repeat as Group E runners‑up, the brothers could clash on 30 June in Arlington, Texas, during the round of 32. Their last encounter was a 2‑1 friendly defeat for France on 4 June, where Guela sang both anthems. The only prior World Cup sibling duel involved Jerome Boateng of Germany against half‑brother Kevin Prince of Ghana in 2010 and 2014.

Other sibling stories include the Williams pair – Inaki for Ghana and Nico, a Euro 2022 champion, for Spain – and the Souttar brothers, with Harry captaining Australia and John representing Scotland. Dutch half‑siblings Derrick Luckassen and Brian Brobbey also line up for the Netherlands, while the Bacuna twins feature for Curaçao. The tournament will showcase family ties alongside national pride.
