Spain's Sergio Garcia will miss the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale next month, failing to qualify for the third time in four years. The 46-year-old 2017 Masters champion put himself in position but couldn't secure one of the five available spots at West Lancashire. His opening round of 60 showed promise, but a second-round 75 derailed his chances.

Garcia's inconsistent performance left him well outside the qualifying threshold at the West Lancashire venue. England's Danny Willett, the 2016 Masters winner, and Matt Wallace also missed out at that location. Meanwhile, Sheffield's Sam Bairstow claimed first place at 10 under par to book his Open debut. Other qualifiers included Kazuma Kobori, Jose Luis Ballester, and Tiger Christensen across the four qualifying sites.

At Dundonald Links, Scotland's Jack Mc Donald topped the leaderboard at five under, earning his spot alongside Matthew Baldwin and Marcus Plunkett. Burnham and Berrow saw James Nicholas qualify first, while Royal Cinque Ports produced five qualifiers including Matthew Southgate and Antoine Rozner. The qualifying events distributed 20 places for the major championship.
