The Scarlets, after announcing a £2.1m loss for the latest financial year, have become the last Welsh region to sign a deal with the WRU. Executive chairman Simon Muderack described the PRA25 agreement as a milestone, adding that the certainty for the next two years will help accelerate progress on and off the field. The contract, however, only guarantees the future of all four regions until June 2028.

The WRU still plans to reduce the number of men’s professional sides from four to three, a move that has sparked criticism, protests, and legal challenges from players, fans, and politicians. WRU chief executive Abi Tierney stressed that the organization is entering a period of increased stability, investing in support structures, and aiming to create a professional environment that matches on‑field commitment. Updates on the long‑term strategy will follow soon.
