Detectives are hunting a man who seriously injured another man after a World Darts Championship match in north London.

The victim, a young man in his twenties, was punched and knocked unconscious outside Alexandra Palace on 13 December. Seven months later he still suffers significant injuries, police said.

The suspect is believed to have been among a group of men who attended the tournament dressed in lobster costumes. The Met Police released a CCTV V image taken at the venue in hopes of identifying the man and prompting witnesses to recall the incident.

The victim was leaving Alexandra Palace at about 16:30 GMT when he encountered the group. He became involved in an argument, was separated by security, then ran into the group again on the concourse where one of the men punched him. Detective Constable Lizzie Coster is leading the investigation, expressing support for the victim and urging the public to assist.

Police have urged anyone who saw the incident to come forward. They also asked for any footage from nearby cameras that might capture the lobster-clad assailants. Victims’ families and the darts community have expressed shock at the violent outburst, highlighting the need for increased security at major sporting events.
