Leicester delivered a statement victory over Premiership leaders Northampton, running in six tries in a dominant 39-5 win at Mattioli Woods Welford Road. The hosts raced out of the blocks after Saints lost Tom Lockett in the warm-up, with returning second row Martin scoring his first try in two years on his first start of the season.

Northampton's difficulties deepened when Callum Chick was sin-binned in only the seventh minute for repeated early infringements. Despite being reduced to 14 men, Saints defended superbly and levelled on 21 minutes when Rory Hutchinson's break created space for Freeman to score in front of the delighted travelling support. However, hooker Jamie Blamire crossed twice as Leicester's dominant pack took control from close-range line-outs.

Jack van Poortvliet kicked a delightful ball over the Northampton defence for Radwan to collect and score, earning a bonus point. Tempers boiled over in the feisty derby, with Josh Kemeny and Leicester replacement Izaia Perese shown yellow and red cards respectively in the closing stages. Leicester's 34-point margin marks their record home league win over their East Midlands rivals.
