Kerr Replaces Devine as Youngest New Zealand Captain

Melie Kerr has been named the new captain of New Zealand's White Ferns across all cricket formats, succeeding Sophie Devine who retired after the 2025 Women's World Cup. Kerr, 25, becomes the youngest player ever to lead the team, having debuted at just 16 years and 27 days old in 2016. The all-rounder has played 172 internationals, scoring 3,757 runs and taking 201 wickets. Kerr will lead the side for the first time in a home ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe starting February 25th. She was player of the tournament in the 2024 T20 World Cup, scoring 134 runs and taking 15 wickets during New Zealand's victory over South Africa.
