Former England fast bowler Katherine Sciver-Brunt is navigating the challenges of "mum guilt" as she embarks on her coaching career with the Trent Rockets. Having retired from playing in 2023, Sciver-Brunt, who welcomed son Theo with wife and England captain Nat in 2025, is now the assistant coach for the Rockets.

Despite her ambition to become a franchise head coach one day, Sciver-Brunt admits to feeling guilty about leaving her son. "I still have all that to figure out. It's more about letting go and managing that feeling," she stated. The scarcity of female head coaches in the women's game, particularly English ones, highlights the path Sciver-Brunt hopes to forge.

While keen to progress, Sciver-Brunt is mindful of her capacity. Her wife's role with the Rockets offers some shared parenting duties. "I'm trying to make myself better, happier, and find my place in the world," she said, expressing her passion for coaching, which she has thoroughly enjoyed in her initial days. She aims to balance her aspirations with being the best mother she can be, ensuring her son experiences a fulfilling life and understands his mothers' involvement in the sport.
