Record points-scorer Emily Scarratt has permanently joined the Red Roses coaching team. The former player initially came on board in an interim capacity as lead attack and backs coach for the Women's Six Nations, a tournament England clinched for the eighth successive time. Following the Six Nations, Scarratt returned to her role with Loughborough Lightning but will now leave the Premiership Women's Rugby side to commit fully to the national team.

Scarratt described her interim period as "challenging but hugely rewarding," noting the transition from player to coach in the same environment as "unnerving" but "thoroughly enjoyed." She expressed pride in being part of the team's ambitious journey and future growth. She also thanked Loughborough Lightning, where she spent eight years as both player and coach, for their support.

Head coach John Mitchell praised Scarratt's "significant impact" and highlighted her "insight, calmness and experience" as a huge asset. Scarratt retired from playing after England's Rugby World Cup win last September and her coaching has already seen an improvement in the team's attacking output, with 27 more points scored in 2026 compared to the previous year's Six Nations.
