Joe Hawkins Wales Scotland Lions clash looms as Scarlets star eyes Six Nations return

Joe Hawkins is set to face Scotland's formidable centre trio when Wales take on the Scottish Lions at Principality Stadium this Saturday. The 23-year-old Scarlets centre, who won his eighth cap against France last weekend, returns to the national team after a stint with Exeter Chiefs. His return was driven by a desire to compete in the Six Nations, Wales' premier competition, which he missed during the 2023 World Cup after his move south.

Hawkins, who previously started against New Zealand and South Africa in the autumn, now lines up between fly-half Dan Edwards and outside centre Eddie James for Wales. Scotland's trio of Finn Russell, Sione Tuipulotu, and Huw Jones, who toured with the British and Irish Lions last summer, present a significant challenge with their combined 186 international caps and settled partnership. Tuipulotu is noted for his power, while Jones brings pace and running lines. Wales' defence, which conceded 15 tries in the first two Six Nations rounds, faces another tough test against this experienced Scottish unit.

Hawkins believes Wales must stick to their attacking style to excite the nation, despite recent disappointing results.
