Jimmy Adams, the former West Indies skipper, now assists Jersey’s T20 team. The 58‑year‑old, who captained the Caribbean side in 54 Tests and 127 ODIs, stepped in after Jersey lost coach Paul Hutchison. Adams says associate cricket has taught him new lessons and sparked a fresh drive for their future.

Jersey, ranked 30th in ICC T20 standings, edged Scotland last year in the 2026 qualifier and now contests the Sub‑Regional Europe Qualifier in Cyprus. They have beaten Switzerland, France, Croatia and hosts, and face Guernsey for a chance to keep the T20 World Cup dream alive for the isle’s fans.

The island’s brightest talent is Asa Tribe, a 31‑cap England‑Lions batsman who scored 115* against Papua New Guinea in April 2023, still Jersey’s highest ODI score. Tribe’s rise shows that, despite a 100,000‑strong population, Jersey can nurture world‑class players with the right support for future matches and development of cricket.

Adams believes associate cricket’s growth keeps doors open for small teams. He says Jersey’s recent form and the emergence of players like Tribe could pave a path back to the World Cup, whether in T20 or 50‑over formats. Jersey’s current run proves that ambition and talent can overcome size today.
