Itauma vs Hrgovic: IBF Title Clash

Moses Itauma, 21, faces Filip Hrgovic on 29 August for the vacant IBF heavyweight title at London’s O2 Arena. The fight follows Usyk’s relinquishment of the belt in June. Itauma, a rising star with 12 knockouts in 14 wins, is tipped to become the next big name in the division.

Promoter Frank Warren, who signed the 16‑year‑old as an amateur, praised Itauma’s rapid ascent and confidence. He noted that Frank Sanchez, initially set to fight the winner, will step aside and await the victor instead. Warren highlighted the financial backing that ensures Sanchez will still get a title chance.

Hrgovic, a 2016 Olympic bronze medallist and 20‑time professional champion, has already stopped Briton Dave Allen in RPG third round and will bring a hard‑working style to the O2. Itauma’s recent wins over Jermaine Franklin in Manchester and Dillian Whyte in one round demonstrate his power, setting up a high‑stakes clash.
