India’s 15‑year‑old batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has earned his first international cap as the team enlists him for the England‑Ireland T20 tour. The selection comes after a record‑breaking IPL stint where he scored 776 runs in 16 innings at a blistering 237.30 strike rate for the Rajasthan Royals.

Sooryavanshi’s meteoric rise eclipses Sachin Tendulkar’s 1989 record; the 15‑year‑old would be the youngest Indian to take the field in a T20 if selected. His IPL haul also earned him the Orange Cap, the Most Valuable Player nod and the emerging player award.

Selection panel chair Ajit Agarkar praised the youngster, noting his ability to carry the Royals into the playoffs single‑handedly. The squad now features new captain Shreyas Iyer, who replaced Suryakumar Yadav after the World Cup win, while seasoned bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya rest.

India will open the tour with two matches in Ireland before five T20s in England in July. With Sooryavanshi’s explosive form and a refreshed leadership core, the side looks set to challenge the upper‑tier teams and secure a strong position in the upcoming World Cup cycle.
