Hull KR forward Tevita Pangai Junior received a six-match ban and fine from the RFL after being found guilty of gouging Leeds Rhinos' Jake Connor. The incident occurred during the Robins' heavy 34-8 defeat at Headingley on Friday, leaving them without a key forward for an extended period.

Pangai Junior, a 30-year-old former NRL prop, will miss crucial fixtures including the upcoming Magic Weekend derby against Hull FC. He joined Hull KR in May on a deal until the end of the season after previously playing 23 times for Catalans Dragons in 2025. His suspension runs until the home match against Catalans on August 13.

The Tonga international's absence adds pressure to a Hull KR side already struggling, having conceded 34 points in their recent loss. His ban forms part of a wider disciplinary crackdown with 22 charges announced, including suspensions for York Knights' Sam Wood and Catalans duo Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet and Franck Maria.

Hull KR have not indicated whether they will appeal the decision, leaving them to plan without Pangai Junior during a critical phase of the season. The timing couldn't be worse as they face upcoming derby matches that will test their squad depth.
