Left‑arm spinner Kirstie Gordon has swapped back to her native side for a second T20 World Cup campaign. After abandoning Scotland in 2018 to chase professional cricket in England, she featured in five matches as England finished runners‑up and earned a Test cap in 2019. ECB rule changes now let her play county cricket in England while representing Scotland internationally.

A back injury postponed Gordon’s return, but she debuted with 3‑27 against the Netherlands and played a key role in Scotland’s tri‑series sweep over Bangladesh and the Netherlands in Edinburgh, their first win over Bangladesh. Led by captain Kathryn Bryce and aided by youngsters such as Katherine Fraser, the side now faces a group containing hosts England, Ireland, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and West Indies.

With spin bowler Abtaha Maqsood out injured, Hannah Rainey joins the squad, adding depth ahead of the opening match against Ireland at Old Trafford. Gordon insists Scotland can challenge any opponent, citing the need for sustained high‑level performance. The upcoming clash with England at Headingley pits her against former teammates, offering a personal test as much as a competitive one.
