Mohammed 'Chico' Qureshi has called Glasgow home for more than 50 years, but he will represent Pakistan against Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. A member at Glasgow Indoor Bowling Club near his restaurant, Qureshi dreamed of a second home Games after playing at Kelvingrove 12 years ago.

His opening match against Wales' Ross Owen did not go to plan, losing in straight sets 12-5 and 17-0. "That's the worst game I've ever played," a still upbeat Qureshi told BBC Scotland. "The more I was trying, the worse I was getting." All is far from lost with four Group C games remaining.

Off the carpet, Qureshi joked he may have scared away supporters. Former world number one Jason Banks - who held world indoor singles, pairs and mixed pairs titles last year - has been known to dine at Qureshi's southside restaurant but is staying away this week. "I'm a bit scared to go back in case he puts something in my food," the 30-year-old from Inverurie joked.

Banks faces Qureshi at 14:45 on Friday, adding spice to a rivalry that spans both the green and the kitchen.
