Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale delivered a stunning performance to win mixed team snowboard cross gold for Team GB, marking the nation's first-ever Winter Olympic title on snow. The British pair overcame disappointment in their individual events to claim victory at Livigno Snow Park.

Nightingale set up the win perfectly by finishing second in the men's race behind France's Loan Bozzolo, allowing Bankes to use her exceptional speed to overtake Italy's Michela Moioli by 0.43 seconds. This victory adds Olympic gold to their 2023 World Championship title and represents Great Britain's second gold medal at these Games - a first for the nation at a single Winter Olympics.

The win was particularly sweet for both athletes, who had struggled in their individual competitions. Bankes, a former individual world champion, had been eliminated in the quarter-finals despite being a medal favorite, while Nightingale exited in the round of 16. Their triumph came despite being seeded 13th for the event, having won the only mixed team World Cup before the Games.
