French Open Ends as Players Push for Higher Grand Slam Prize Money Share

Professional tennis players have suspended their protest at the French Open while pursuing negotiations over revenue sharing. The dispute centers on demands for a larger portion of Grand Slam earnings to fund prize money and player benefits, along with greater input on tournament scheduling decisions.

Players are requesting each Grand Slam dedicate 16% of revenue to prize money, which would translate to over £70m at Wimbledon based on last year's £427m revenue base. This represents a 34% increase from the £53.5m offered in 2025. Additionally, players seek a $4m contribution to their benefit pool from each major tournament.

Player representatives have scheduled meetings with the All England Club and US Tennis Association during the second week in Paris. The next critical development arrives when Wimbledon announces its prize money on June 11, with potential further action looming when the grass-court major begins on June 28. The outcome will set precedent for how tennis distributes its growing revenues among stakeholders.
