Fred Kerley Banned Two Years for Doping Violations

Former world 100m champion Fred Kerley has received a two-year ban for three anti-doping whereabouts failures between May and December 2024. The Athletics Integrity Unit tribunal found the American sprinter was 'negligent and, to a certain extent, reckless' in not adhering to anti-doping regulations, leading to his provisional suspension last August.

Kerley, 30, missed the World Championships in Tokyo and will remain ineligible until August 2027. His competitive results from December 2024 through August 2025 have been disqualified, including prize money and titles. The tribunal also ordered him to pay £3,000 in legal fees to World Athletics.

The ban stems from violations of the World Anti-Doping Code, which prohibits athletes from missing three tests or filing failures within a 12-month period. Despite his experience as a 2022 world champion and Olympic medalist, Kerley's negligence was deemed significant enough to warrant the maximum penalty.
