Dragons are in contract talks with head coach Filo Tiatia as he prepares for a second full season at Rodney Parade. Tiatia, who previously coached at Auckland, Moana Pasifik, Toyota Verblitz, and Sunwolves in Japan, endured a tough first season with just one win — at Newcastle in the Challenge Cup — as the club finished bottom of the United Rugby Championship (URC) for the first time.

Significant progress followed last season with three wins and four draws in the URC, though Dragons missed 14th place to Scarlets on win count. Chief executive Ryan Blumberg highlighted 19 more league points and a Challenge Cup semi-final run, setting a target of pushing for the play-offs. He credited Tiatia's ability to instill belief as his "superpower," noting he mentors players to compete with anyone.

Tiatia worked without a defence coach after stepping up in 2024-25, then brought in Dale Mac Leod last summer as his effective number two. Blumberg described them as "yin and yang," leading a programme supported by coaches Matt O'Brien and Sam Hobbs. Dragons open their URC campaign at Benetton on Friday, 25 September (19:45 BST).
