Everton's Kelly Gago Transfer Standoff

Everton manager Brian Sorensen has stated forward Kelly Gago is "free to go" if a club matches her £500,000 release clause. The 27-year-old France international, who joined from Nantes in 2024, publicly claimed Everton blocked a move to Paris St-Germain and described her treatment as "unfair." Sorensen clarified only a £43,000 offer was received, far short of the clause.

Gago has two-and-a-half years remaining on her contract after signing an extension in June 2025. She is currently unavailable for selection, with Sorensen confirming she does not want to play for the club. Club sources deny her claims of being forced to sign the extension and state an internal investigation cleared staff of any wrongdoing.

The standoff leaves Gago's future in limbo. With no other bids reported, a move to PSG seems unlikely unless they meet Everton's valuation. Her absence is a blow to Everton's attack, but the club appears prepared to hold out for the full release clause fee.
