The incident occurred on Saturday when rain interrupted play just two overs into Ballyspallen's chase of 159. With overs set to be lost, officials needed to apply the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, but a malfunctioning printer prevented the required DLS sheet from being produced.

As a result, Eglinton were awarded the victory without another ball being bowled. NWCU regulations require the home club to have a computer with DLS software, an operational printer, and a proficient operator ready before the match. The technical failure cost Ballyspallen a chance at a fifth league win and left them at the bottom of the table.

The rule strictly states that if a DLS sheet cannot be produced, the home team automatically concedes. Ballyspallen's equipment failure handed Eglinton three points and highlighted the importance of proper match-day infrastructure in competitive cricket.
