Golfer Charley Hull has urged critics to "lighten up" following backlash over a scratchcard prank she played on her caddie, Adam Woodward.

Hull, who is competing in the Women's Open, stated she does not check social media during tournament weeks to stay focused. She believes the prank was lighthearted and that those complaining are taking it too seriously.

"People need to lighten up if they're taking that too seriously because it was pretty funny," Hull commented. She added that Woodward also found the prank amusing and is "not uptight." Hull acknowledged feeling bad for him but emphasized the need to have a good week, promising to buy him 100 scratchcards at the end of the tournament.

She concluded by saying, "If people don't like it they can lump it." Hull aims to maintain her focus on the competition, despite the external criticism.
