Campbell Hatton said the outpouring of public support after his father Ricky Hatton’s September death has been a “blessing” for a family forced to grieve in the open. Thousands lined the funeral route from Hyde to Manchester Cathedral, turning three hours in the car into a continuous sea of faces. He described the scene as overwhelming but uplifting for their family.

An Evening4Ricky tribute will take place on Sunday, 7 June at Manchester Arena, the venue where Ricky secured many of his biggest wins. Campbell hopes the night feels more like a party than a mourning, expecting boxers and fans to fill the arena as a testament to the champion’s impact. Proceeds will benefit the Ricky Hatton Foundation.

Campbell explained the foundation, launched a month after Ricky’s death, aims to raise mental‑health awareness, dismantle stigma and provide talking‑therapy programmes. He linked the charity to his own battles and the recent suicide of a close friend, stressing that action, not just conversation, is needed. The event will therefore serve as both celebration and a call to address mental‑health crises in the UK.
