Adeniyi Kayode, the chauffeur for former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, appeared in a Nigerian court on Tuesday. He is charged with causing death by dangerous driving and other offenses after a December 29 crash near Lagos killed Joshua's personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami. Joshua was hospitalized with injuries.

The court in Sagamu, Ogun state, adjourned the case until February 25. Prosecutors requested more time for legal advice. Kayode, who was granted bail of 5 million naira, wore all black and did not speak during the hearing. The crash occurred on the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway as Joshua traveled to visit family for New Year.

Joshua, who was discharged from hospital two days after the collision, posted a heartfelt tribute to his late team members on Instagram. The incident casts a shadow over the boxer's preparations for his upcoming fights, as he mourns the loss of close colleagues who were integral to his training camp.
