"I'm very happy that this time I didn't do that, because that's shattering, that hurts," Toprak commented on her previous experience. "All you're thinking about is get up and go again."

It was a successful night for England's judokas. Lele Nairne, who lost to Toprak in the semi-finals, earned bronze in the -57kg category by defeating Ghana's Frema Agyei in just 28 seconds. Nairne expressed satisfaction with her redemption win after a difficult experience at the 2022 Games.
