England and Scotland supporters face paying many times the face value for World Cup tickets via Fifa's official resale platform. As of Tuesday, 6,135 tickets were listed for the six group games involving the two home nations. Fifa is not currently selling tickets itself but has indicated more could be released. The platform charges a 30% fee - 15% each off buyer and seller from each transaction. The cheapest England ticket costs £612, more than three times its category three face value of £201.

For the opening game against Croatia, the cheapest resale ticket with fees added costs $898 (£628), far exceeding the $265 (£201) face value. Scotland's resale prices mirror England's, with the cheapest Haiti match ticket at $690 (£524) versus a face value of $400 (£304). The Brazil fixture in Miami has eye-watering prices, including a category one ticket listed at $184,000 (£139,840) against a face value of $8,860 (£6,597). Thomas Concannon of the Football Supporters' Association states many fans are holding out hope prices drop as the tournament approaches.
