US Prioritizes World Cup Visa Appointments

The US has launched the Fifa Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System, or Fifa Pass, to streamline visa appointments for World Cup 2026 ticket holders. This move aims to ensure fans from qualifying countries can enter the US for the tournament, despite potential visa hurdles. The system went live on Tuesday, addressing concerns that citizens of some qualifying nations might not secure appointments in time.

Most citizens of countries under the US visa waiver program, including much of Europe, Japan, and Australia, can travel visa-free and do not need the Fifa Pass. However, fans from other nations must use this system, which the State Department claims will reduce wait times for appointments. This initiative is particularly important for fans from countries where visa processing might be delayed or complicated.

The US State Department has emphasized that a Fifa Pass appointment does not guarantee a visa approval, as all applicants must undergo thorough security screening. This development comes amid concerns about countries affected by US visa restrictions, with some qualified nations and others in contention for qualification facing potential travel bans. The US will host 78 of the 104 total matches, making it a significant hub for the World Cup.
