Tebas Criticizes Premier League Over Man City Case Delay

La Liga president Javier Tebas has criticized the Premier League's handling of Manchester City's 115 charges for alleged financial rule breaches, calling it 'damaging' for the competition. The charges, first brought in February 2023, have yet to produce a publicly announced outcome despite a hearing taking place between September and December 2024.

Speaking at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit in London, Tebas expressed concern about the 'uncertainty' created by the prolonged process. 'When a great institution like the Premier League has to have rules for financial fair play, you need legal certainty in the competition and among clubs,' he stated. Citizens must believe the system is fair and objective, he added.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters declined to comment on the timing of the case, saying he 'can't talk about the timing of it' and 'can't comment.' The hearing's outcome, originally expected in early 2025, remains unannounced. Tebas argued that such delays undermine confidence in the regulatory framework and damage the institution's image.
