Slavia Prague faces severe sanctions after their derby against Sparta Prague was abandoned when hundreds of home fans stormed the pitch. The league leaders were leading 3-2 in stoppage time, close to clinching the Czech title, when the incident occurred. The club's chairman Jaroslav Tvrdik had promised lifetime bans for those involved.

Slavia has been fined 10m Czech crowns (£357,000) and must play four games behind closed doors. Their match against Sparta was forfeited with Sparta awarded a 3-0 win. Sparta received a smaller fine of 600,000 Czech crowns (£21,400) after their fans set off flares and damaged the stadium.

The sanctions have reduced Slavia's lead at the top of the table to five points over second-placed Sparta. The title race has been thrown into uncertainty with these disciplinary actions. Slavia will next play at home to Jablonec on Wednesday, with the club stating they "accept the decision with respect."
