Everton Women have confirmed Scott Phelan as permanent head coach after guiding the side through an interim spell. The 38‑year‑old assumed temporary charge in February following Brian Sorensen’s dismissal. A lifelong Toffee, Phelan entered the club’s academy at eight, returned as a coach in 2012 and never made a senior appearance. His promotion follows a season where the squad struggled with injuries and inconsistent form.

When Phelan arrived, Everton sat four points above the relegation zone. He sparked three straight WSL victories, a run that lifted the team to eighth place by season’s end. Those wins included a 2‑1 comeback against Chelsea, boosting confidence. The improvement turned a precarious campaign into a respectable mid‑table finish, keeping the Toffees clear of the drop battle.

Former striker Phil Jevons, who stepped in as interim manager earlier this year, will remain on staff to assist Phelan. The coach said he “does not take for granted” the role and aims to restore Everton to the league’s upper tier. His permanent appointment gives the club a platform to push Everton toward the top half and to shape recruitment and youth integration.
