Leicester City were relegated from the Women's Super League to WSL 2 in May, sparking a mass exodus. Fourteen players, including nine who featured in the play‑off loss to Charlton Athletic, have already departed, leaving the club to rebuild from the second tier.

However, Sam Tierney, the longest‑serving player, gave supporters a boost by agreeing a new deal until 2028 in July. The 27‑year‑old has made 151 appearances for the Foxes and said she wants to succeed in a club that feels like family.

Last season saw only two wins from 22 matches and a –41 goal difference, raising doubts about the team's future and budget. Leicester acted quickly, letting players leave for fees that are now reinvested in the squad. Pre‑season results include a win over Rugby Borough, a draw with Manchester United and a loss to Liverpool.

Tierney hopes the revival will produce a sustainable side that stays in the top flight. She wants Leicester to become a different club, one that makes people jealous, and believes the collective drive will turn the narrative around.
