Scotland World Cup disabled ticket allocation criticized

Scotland's disability lead, Stephen Reside, has condemned Fifa's allocation for disabled supporters at the 2026 World Cup. For a 65,000-seat Miami stadium, Scotland gets just six wheelchair spaces and six carers per match. This represents only 2% of available wheelchair spots, far below the 5.7% share for non-disabled fans.

Reside also criticized the pricing structure, noting carers must now pay for tickets without guaranteed seating together. This reverses a free carer policy from the 2022 tournament. With resale tickets priced as high as $889, disabled fans face additional, unavoidable costs, a concern echoed by the Level Playing Field charity.

The Scottish Football Association is working to secure more tickets, but the small allocation leaves many fans like Reside unable to attend. With the tournament in the US, Canada, and Mexico, accessibility failures risk excluding a significant portion of the Tartan Army. Fifa has yet to respond to official concerns about its inclusion claims.
