Scotland's Women's World Cup qualifying double-header against Israel will be played behind closed doors at a neutral stadium in Hungary. The Scottish FA confirmed they must fulfill fixtures after FIFA and UEFA statutes prevented them from choosing opponents. This decision follows similar choices by other national associations facing political dilemmas.

The Football Association of Ireland also opted to play against Israel after being warned they could face disqualification. Former international winger James McClean criticized the FAI for lacking a "backbone" in their decision. The Scottish FA emphasized that refusing to play would forfeit both matches and negatively impact their women's team's qualification chances.

In their statement, the Scottish FA acknowledged awareness of suffering in Gaza while stating they must operate under membership obligations to FIFA and UEFA. They added that member associations "do not have unilateral discretion to choose who they will or will not play against." The matches will proceed without spectators as a compromise position.
