Scotland’s women have pulled Claire Emslie back into the squad for the final World Cup qualifying double‑header against Israel, just five months after giving birth. The Angel City striker returned to the NWSL on 10 May, her first club game since 9 May 2025. Her comeback comes amid a tight Group B4 drive for qualification.

Both matches will be staged behind closed doors in Hungary at Budapest’s Bozsik Arena, a neutral venue chosen to mirror other Group B4 sides. Scotland, unbeaten so far, tops the group on goal difference and has secured a playoff spot. The decision to play away from home remains unexplained by the Scottish FA for the season.

McArdle’s squad also gains AC Milan captain Christy Grimshaw, who missed 13 months with an ACL and MCL tear, and uncapped defender Kenzie Weir, replacing injured Charlotte Newsham and Maria McAneny. Goalkeepers Eartha Cumings, Lee Gibson and Sandy MacIver lead the backline, while midfielders Chelsea Cornet and Erin Cuthbert add depth to strengthen the team.

With the double‑header set for 5 and 9 June, the Scottish side aims to cement their position before the play‑off draw. A win against Israel would push them further ahead and keep the pressure on rivals. The squad’s return to action after a quiet period signals renewed ambition for the World Cup in 2026 season ahead.
