Vitor Pereira has been appointed as Nottingham Forest's fourth manager of the season, signing a deal until the end of next season to help the club avoid relegation from the Premier League. The 57-year-old Portuguese takes over from Sean Dyche, who was sacked after a disappointing goalless draw against bottom club Wolves.

Pereira returns to English football after being dismissed by Wolves in November following 11 months in charge. He won 14 of 38 games with Wolves, helping them stay up last season. Forest are currently 17th in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone after winning only two of their last 10 games.

This marks Pereira's 15th managerial role after spells in Portugal, Germany, China, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia. He previously worked under Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Greek club Olympiacos, winning the title and Greek Cup in 2014-15. Pereira's first match in charge will be the Europa League knockout round play-off against his former club Fenerbahce in Turkey, followed by a Premier League clash against Liverpool.
