Nottingham Forest have appointed Vitor Pereira as their new manager on an 18-month contract, making him the club's fourth manager this season. The 57-year-old Portuguese takes over from Sean Dyche, who was sacked after a disappointing goalless draw against bottom club Wolves. Pereira's appointment comes as Forest sit 17th in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone.

Pereira returns to English football after being sacked by Wolves in November following an 11-month spell. He won 14 of 38 games with Wolves and helped secure their Premier League survival last season. The former Olympiacos manager has a history with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, having won the Greek title and cup during his six-month spell at the Athens club in 2014-15. His coaching staff will include Filipe Jorge Monteiro Almeida and Luis Miguel Moreira Da Silva as assistant coaches.

Pereira faces an immediate challenge with Forest's Europa League knockout round play-off tie against his former club Fenerbahce in Turkey on Thursday, followed by a Premier League clash against Liverpool at home on Sunday. The Portuguese manager, who began his career with Sanjoanense in 2004 and has managed in Germany, China, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia, embarks on his 15th managerial role. His first task will be steering Forest clear of relegation danger.
