Pereira brings extensive experience from his time in Portugal, Greece, Turkey, China and Brazil, including a successful relegation battle with Wolves in the 2024-25 season. He guided Wolves to 16th place after taking over when they were five points from safety, securing crucial victories against Southampton, West Ham, Ipswich, Tottenham, Manchester United and Leicester. Forest's hierarchy hopes his track record in similar situations can help them avoid the drop.

The pressure on Pereira is immediate. Forest face Fenerbahce in the Europa League play-offs on Thursday, and sit just three points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining. Owner Evangelos Marinakis has shown little patience with previous managers, and Pereira will need to produce results quickly to satisfy the Greek shipping magnate's expectations.
