Kazuyoshi Miura, the world's oldest professional footballer at 59 years old, has scored his first goal in nearly four years for Japanese third-tier side Fukushima United. The veteran forward, known as 'King Kazu', netted in the 52nd minute during Fukushima's 7-0 victory over Iwaki Furukawa in the Emperor's Cup on Saturday. This marks his first competitive goal since November 2022.

Miura, a beloved figure in Japan and a prominent face of the J League since its 1993 launch, began his career with Brazilian club Santos in 1986. His extensive career has also seen him play in Italy, Croatia, and Australia. His loan at Fukushima United has been extended until June 2027, beginning his 42nd professional season.

Miura, who has scored 55 goals in 89 appearances for Japan, previously expressed aspirations to continue playing into his 60s. He has been on loan at Fukushima from J2 League side Yokohama FC since 2021, having not played for Yokohama since 2020.
